My flat is great! I've got three large windows with view of the inner courtyard. It's equipped with my own kitchen, mini kitchen table, desk, large wardrobe, and bathroom. Although I complained about hauling so many things, I appreciate my Mother for stuffing the body-bag-like duffel bag with a comforter, pillow, sheets, towels (every size), three month’s supply of toiletries, kitchen sponges, Clorox wipes, a lamp, a bathroom rug, (yes to all of these) and much more. Only a Cuban mother! On top of that, the Mizzou girl that lived in this room last semester left her European blow dryer and straightener…how perfect. I didn’t bring my American ones since I had heard Katie and Christy’s stories about blowing the entire fuse of a building with their chi's when they studied in London, and I didn't want to be held accountable for such things.
But here are the downfalls.
-I don’t get internet until Monday! This means no email/Skype until then. I feel disconnected from the world.
-I don’t get hot water until Monday either! I had been in the same clothes for three days and was DESPERATE for a shower. I couldn't handle myself any longer so I sucked it up. Well, I tried-- I LITERALLY got the wind knocked out of me when I stood under that FREEZING water. I couldn’t breathe!! It was painful. But in the end, I was clean.
-The plug adapter converter I brought is square shaped and, of course, these sockets are sunken-in circles. Since the birds and the bees don’t work that way, this means I have no computer/MUSIC until I find the right converter…bahh!
The complete, utter silence in 4/220 is making me a bit sad!!
