Thursday Night Highlights

Alright, so here’s a recap of my week. Check it out.

-I went to NATO to cover a press conference. The Russian Ambassador to NATO spoke on the current Georgian/Russian issue. It was cool being there but it was more propaganda than anything else.
-A beautiful Russian girl greeted us at security and escorted us to the conference room. She wore a crisp golden blazer- totally reminded me of Fleur Delacour from Harry Potter.
-I realized Americans take freedom of speech for granted. We covered a 9/11 demonstration and a certain group of people weren’t allowed to place flowers commemorating those who died on 9/11 simply cause they have radical views. Although they were being peaceful, the police kicked the roses and pushed women out of the way. One police in particular was being a complete and utter asshole. This was a very discouraging sight and would never happen in the states. In fact, it’d make national news.
-I mastered the balancing act of heels on cobble stone streets. Almost worse than heels on grass.
-I work with really cool people!
-All week I dodged the possibility of ordering the wrong thing. I went to the same cafe for lunch cause they speak SPANISH! Ouiiiii
-I cooked pasta four nights in a row to save money. The 20 dollar burger from Sunday night football put a dent in my week's budget. Who knew it'd be that expensive?!
-A very smelly man sat next to me on the metro. Thank God for scarves.
-I witnessed a quarrel between two men outside the metro. It’s moments like these I wish I spoke French cause I had no idea what was going on. One went for a swing and fell flat on his ass just like in the cartoons. As if he’d slipped on a banana or something. It was funny but I sure as hell didn’t let a peep out...the situation was pretty heated.

ULTIMATE HIGHLIGHT!!!!!!!!!!
-I saw a businessman trip and fall into a fountain. Best moment of my life! He was alone, so he pulled the “even though I’m sopping wet, let me just walk away as if no one saw.” People started clapping shortly after. Just to give you an idea… it was one of those huge, modern, water fountain fixtures located a step off the ground (I’ll try to go by there again and take a pic). But the guy must have been distracted and not seen it. I’m so happy I was at the right place at the right time. It made my week.

Let the weekend begin!!
