I worked a 12-hour shift yesterday. Needless to say I was exhausted from my weekend so this felt like a slap in the face. For the first story, we drove to Inbev in Leuven about 40 min away to cover the Anheuser Busch-Inbev name change approval conference. It was a really cool meeting. They played awesome music, flat screen TVs, free breakfast (yes, journalists can accept food and beverages here… I LOVE THIS RULE). PS: If anyone saw this footage in STL or the states, it came from us, as we were the only television agency they notified! We drove back to Brussels, edited and as soon as we fed the footage to London I went with the other camera crew to cover the big Dexia story (the second Belgian bank the government rescued). We got sound bites from the Belgian Prime minister, and finance minister… pretty sweet.
Today, I spent a long time at the Belgian Parliament for the big financial crisis conference. We spotted the Belgian Prime Minister leaving the room. So we sneaked out and chased him to the bathroom. We waited by the door until he did his business and squared him for the interview. It was great. After rushing back and editing, I SPED to the Dexia Headquarters and met with our other cameraman for an interview with Dexia’s CEO since he lost his job. As soon as that was done, we weaved in and out of traffic to rush the tape back to the office and edited before deadline. Today was insane! Although I’m exhausted (and haven’t caught up on sleep from Milan) it’s TIME TO PARTY!!! =)
