While I waited for them to crawl out of their caves I decided to squeeze in my first load of laundry. Let me just say it was quite the task to get those ancient machines to work and of course all was in French. The tubs were TINY and I had to soak up 5 euro all for ONE load. At least nothing shrunk or changed colors. So I was very happy! Plus the detergent I bought smells heavenly.
We stepped outside and the day was even better than it looked from inside. Two of us simultaneously said, “Oh! Football weather!” Yea, you Missouri and Colorado folk know exactly what I’m talking about. You Miamians… not so much. In other words it was sunny and about 72˚.

We took the metro to the very last stop and there it was… the enormous Atomium. I literally let out a loud, childish, high-pitched “WOW!” With my voice closely resembling Mickey Mouse... or, Julia Frasco might actually be a better analogy. People in the metro must have jumped.
The thing was HUGE. According to Wikipedia :), the Atomium, built in 1958, is the exact shape of one iron crystal cell magnified 165 times!!!
We hung out there enjoying the weather for a bit then had lunch at a non-authentic Mexican restaurant nearby. I ordered the taco dish and it came with one, ONE taco! They downsize everything! Even Mexican food is served a lo petite… bahh!
We split ways and I ended my blue-sky afternoon with a walk around the park accompanied by a sugar waffle, and another walk around downtown with a 67-year-old man from Spain I randomly met. We bought postcards together :) Not creepy at all.

fyi...food in europe EVERYWHERE is downsized. the portions are so tiny that you are still hungry afterwards. probably the only negative thing over there.
p.s. i miss you!!
