Foreign Ministers in da Haus

Today was crazy! I was at the European Council for an allll day 12-hour shift! The Foreign Ministers from all 27 EU countries met for a foreign affairs meeting. I felt like the paparazzi at an award show waiting outside with the 50 other members of the press as the Foreign Ministers rolled up in fancy wheels and executive looking posses. It was funny to hear the smack-talk amongst the reporters. One British man said, "Oh, those are the absolute most hideous trousers I've ever seen" lol they were snake print! Every 3-4 interviews we had to run the tape upstairs to the press center for our producers to crash edit and ultimately beat the competition.

Although I was with Igor (the other cameraman), Francois pulled me midday to cover a Russian protest at NATO. We couldn't help but take a 10-min power nap in the car to rejuvenate our energy. Then back to the European Council we went. The Foreign Ministers meeting is behind closed doors so we waited until the end for interviews on what was discussed. Luckily we were inside. But we all got a little loopy from waiting and goofed off a bit. The most important soundbites of the day were on the Netherlands/Serbia relations, Zimbabwe, and Russian/Georgian issues.
