Okay, this is the happy side of the Mechelen trip :).
After the Jewish Museum, Gareth gave us a tour of Mechelen. What a beautiful peaceful old town! I LOVED it! The centre of the city looks like a little Dutch town…sort of out of the movies. Everyone rides their old-fashioned bicycles and the vibrant colored flowers gives the place such character! I was so bitter with myself for not charging my camera! But I did take some pictures on Marty and Paola’s cameras. Hopefully she’ll email them to me soon! We had lunch in the centre as well and it was delicious.
On the way back to Brussels, (about a 30 min ride) Paola, Gareth and I had a little accent jam-sesh in the train. It was hilarious. I’m not sure how it got started but Gareth busted out his Midwest and Irish accents, followed by his various accents from England. I chimed in with my Boston, NY, Miami, Espanola, Puerto Rican and Valley girl impresinations. And Paola with all her different accents from Spain. LOL Most of you reading know how much I love accents so I was having a ball. People around us must have thought we were crazy.
